Have you ever seen a baking or determined house?
Monotonous exposed concrete and constant dreariness or individual, shapely and lively buildings? This thought experiment could be the basis of the project initiated by Detmold professor Michel Melenhorst, in which the aspiring architects and interior designers at the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences are working on the path to creative, new building concepts on an experimental level.
Neat, calm, determined and punctual. Characteristics that we can attribute to many people. But how would you describe your ideal friend? This task marked the beginning of the project preparation phase, in which desired character strengths had to be defined in preparation for the further processes.
The half-timbered house in love

Does it warm your heart when you look at a lovingly designed building façade? Have you ever felt a room was cold even though it was well heated? Unconsciously, we associate human characteristics - both positive and negative - with things that are actually objectively neutral. But why are buildings objectively neutral when they are designed and built by people for people? The project participants started the first day with this question and looked for human characteristics in freely selectable buildings in their surroundings.
The Transformation
In order to realize the graphical representation of properties, various visualization processes were developed in which human characteristics were first represented using a familiar sequence of tones from musical instruments. Then spatial objects were built according to the same principle.
